Saturday 28 April
5:30am (Nig Time, GMT+1): At the ABC Transport yard already, at Amuwo Odofin. Today is Sanitation Saturday in Lagos State and no one is supposed to be out of his home between 7 am and 10 am, the time is to be used to clean homes and surroundings. It happens every last Saturday of the month. To beat this restriction, I had to leave the house at 4.40am. My bus is supposed to leave at 7.30am but I suspect we will leave earlier than that because of the aforementioned reasons.
As to whether people respect it or not, that is clear by my being here way ahead of time. As to whether people actually use the time to clean, that isnt clear. I am sure many...

(CBS News) Kids and dinosaurs go together like peanut butter and jelly. Or chocolate and peanut butter. Geez, just about everything tastes good with peanut butter, right? But getting back on topic, you really need to check out this video of a 2-year-old boy encountering a dinosaur in the woods. His reaction goes from cute to totally priceless at about 33 seconds into the clip.
Run! I was rolling on the floor when that happened. The adorable and hilarious video was posted by YouTube user tfoust1012 who writes:
Zack loves dinosaurs but until now he has never seen one bigger than himself. This is his reaction. Zack is 2 1/2 years old.

When did I last get butt-naked with a painting in the line of duty, I ask myself. Theres just the two of us here: me, and a work by Luc Tuymans called, propitiously enough, Allo!
Im off to bed. Were in my cabin on a boat called the Roi des Belges (King of the Belgians). Tuymans is Belgian too. To be honest, this is the only cabin. Its after midnight and the crew – lets call them room service – arent about. The tides up. Wheres my cocoa?
Im sailing through the night on the Roi de Belges, the riverboat shuddering and creaking on the roof of the Queen Elizabeth Hall on Londons South Bank. Rain slaps at the windows and the wind howls. The Roi des Belges is named after...

In the wake of the biggest dump of classified information in the history of the Army, the brass is searching for ways to watch what every soldier is doing on his or her Army computer.
The Army wants to look at keystrokes, downloads and Web searches on computers that soldiers use.
Maj. Gen. Steven Smith, chief of the Army Cyber Directorate, said the software was one of his chief priorities, joking that it would take the place of a lower-tech solution: A guy with a large bat behind every user as they go to search the Internet.
Now weve been in the news I dont know if youve seen it with a little insider threat issue, Smith continued.
Smith did not mention Pfc. Bradley...

Androids increased fragmentation across hardware devices and OS versions, and its lack of a central app store, have left game developers disappointed with the OS, according to the CEO of Plants vs. Zombies publisher PopCap Games.
Android is not a very good business for most game companies, no matter what anyone tells you, PopCap CEO David Roberts said in interview Thursday. Im sure there are some people making money on it, but based on the amount of hardware it sells it hasnt turned into the game business I think a lot of folks hoped
Roberts made the comment as other developers have complained of Androids fragmentation and the difficulties in building apps for the OS. PopCap,...

Quick — If you had to pick one city in the world where the spectacle of a dazzling capital enabled by peasant labor most closely resembles Panem, the fictional Capitol of The Hunger Games, which would it be?
There is, of course, no right or wrong answer to that question. But now that The Hunger Games phenomenon is set to be released next month in China, it may be a moment to ask — where, as architects, do we see ourselves in this allegory? How do we position ourselves as we are building in Beijing and Shanghai and Chengdu, not to mention Abu Dhabi and other mega-development cities? More simply, who has been doing the building of the worlds newest Capitols and where...

I know that so much of Reddit is built on Redditors connecting over shared hobbies and weird twists of fate in their seemingly mundane lives, but its also fun when these normal folks bring in celebrity anecdotes. Especially when they involve one or both parties making utter fools of themselves. Ive seen variations on the awkward celebrity encounters conversation before, but this thread from r/askreddit is chock full of cringeworthy stories involving too-cool-for-school celebs. Here are my favorites:

I was staying with a friend, who herself happened to be staying at the apartment of some family...
